Due to recent activities from Hackers, Spammers and Thieves
there’s been alot of talk lately about protecting your blog and it’s content. And right enough too! Jacinta Dean has written an article on Blog Security and shares with her readers the plugins she uses to protect from hackers, which I too now have installed – thanks Jacinta. For the spammers, along with Akismet, I a
lso have G.A.S.P. (Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin), a tip I got from Barry Wells and Randy Smith will show you how to install it.
← ← Wouldn’t it be great if there was a backfire plugin that would do this to hackers, spammers & thieves?
Sharing our ideas, tips, experiences, reviews, news or updates is what most bloggers like to do and for someone to copy and past your content directly onto another website or blog and label themselves as the author, that’s just darn right stealing. To the blog owner who’s content has been used in this way, it’s very heartbreaking. Alot of work, research and thought has gone into writing those articles and for someone to snatch it like that, taking credit …
I’ll keep it polite here, it’s just not nice. Go visit Dee Ann Rice she’ll tell you her story of stolen blog content and how she got it sorted.
If someone’s writing an article for their readers and found content within any of my blog-posts interesting or helpful and wanted to use it, well then go right ahead, that pleases me. But, DO NOT just copy, paste and sign yourself as the author. Either you give me credit or REWITE the post in your own words. The later being the best option.
The thing is, hackers, spammers and thieves don’t give a flying-fox, so there’s no room for reason, just measures to protect. Along with the above mentioned plugins, I’ve come across one I’ve just installed Blog Protector, it’s free as are all plugins mentioned here. This will not protect your content 100%, but it will be a big deterrent. Your articles can not be either right clicked nor from the tool bar, copied. Go on, try it right now.
That’s it from me now I’d like to hear from you. Have you had any security problems and what do you use for protection? (and condoms do not count … )
Take Care
Julie
