Highlighter: Comment & Share / GASP WP Plugins

I mentioned in my last post about the use of plugins and aps for your blog, being selective and using ones which are useful.  Well, here are a couple of very useful WP plugins.

Highlighter is free, easy to use and a great interactive tool, opening up an opportunity for discussion on certain points within a post, capturing more social sharing and conversation.  If you can’t see the Highlighter side-bar tab, it does not appear on the home page, when you open a post it will then automatically display.

So, how does it work?  Highlighter allows your readers to comment or share with their followers on facebook and twitter or email a friend, on any chosen text from a post.  Whether it be a word, sentence, paragraph or even an image, just highlight it, (the highlighter box will appear) then make your comment or share on that highlight.  To give you a little example of how it looks when a comment has been made, mouse over the highlighted text above ‘chosen text’.

The best way to get a clear and easy understanding of how Highlighter works is to pop over to Barry Wells blog and watch a short video demonstration he’s put together.

GASP (Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin), also free and I’m sure something everyone could do with having, it will stop 99% of spambot comment posts.  Another great video demonstration, this time by Randy Smith, he’ll explain how to install it.

I must mention that Ian Ieba recommended both these plugins to me and passed on both Barry’s and Randy’s video links, which I do recommend watching.

Till next time

It’s In ‘The List’

Have you ever wondered how Internet marketing experts send out a single email and make enough money to buy a car?  It’s a little silly when you think about it. For most people, it sounds too good to be true.  But not when you have the “secret weapon” those experts don’t tell you about.  If you had it, you can reproduce their results without breaking a sweat.

It’s the Buyer List.

Most people think that a big mailing list is the secret to wealth.  It really isn’t.  What counts is the quality of the people on your list and by that I mean, do they buy when you send out an email?  If they don’t, they’re just sitting there. It wouldn’t matter if you had a million people on your list. No buyers means no business.

So if you want to know one of the “secrets” to making money online, it’s having a list of people who willingly hand over money when you invite them to.  It’s never been more complex than that.

What stands in the way for most reaching that goal is not knowing how to build a list of buyers. You can cram a list full of subscribers, but then all you have is a big list.  Will they buy?  Probably not, and most marketers know that they get only about a 1-2% response when they send out an email.

That’s not bad if you have a huge list, but what if you could send an email to a list of 2,500 people and get 10% of them to buy?  That’s 250 sales for you!

Now, which do you think is easier…getting 25,000 people on your list, hoping that one-percent buy  getting your 250 sales, or getting 2,500 buyers on your list who buy like crazy whenever you email?

Remember, quality counts more than quantity for most things, certainly for mailing lists.  If you focus your efforts on getting buyers to join your list, you’ll be far better off.
