The Pests of the Net Hacking at LinkedIn Accounts

Hi there, have you received emails from LinkedIn, opened it, skimmed through it and clicked the link within it?

Oh dear!

I’d been receiving some messages from LinkedIn telling me I’d a private message or a connection request, but in my LinkedIn account, either there were no messages or the ones there, did not match with the mail sent to me.  Take a closer look here Julie.

Below is a photo of one of the latest e-mails received.  The ‘from’ I blanked out as there are several people in LinkedIn under that name being used, but for starters, the sender email address LinkedIn astuterlln27@barbarawien.de

LinkedIn2a

Now, let’s look at a message sent via the LinkedIn message service.  (name of sender & message blanked out)

The sender email address  messages-noreply@linkedin.com

LinkedIn2

Do be careful people, check the footers of your mails and the sender address, regardless of the Name and Headers.

Here you can read about LinkedIn’s Security Footer Message

Take care now
Julie

      Hi Pauline,

You’re welcome. At first glance, the mail looks pretty original, these spammers and hacking’s are really annoying but are there and we do have to keep our eye on things. Some people just have nothing better to do with their time.

Thanks for stopping by Pauline, have a great Sunday afternoon

  2. Hello Julie thanks so much for the helpful post about Linkedin
I make it a habit to never open any mail from anyone I don’t know.

I often get all kinds of mail with my name in the subject line but unless I sent it to the sender my self I won’t open it.

You can never be to careful online. Thank you so much for sharing your tips

      Hello Rob and Welcome,

I’m the same Rob, always careful when mail arrives from unknown senders, only the hackers are trying to get smart by copying the headers from good sites, this is where I now look twice at the mails from even the most trustworthy sites. When one looks close enough though, there’s always a flaw in the hackers copy.

Thanks for stopping by Rob and leaving your comment.

  3. Julie,

I get a lot of emails the profess to be something they are not.

I always check the links to see where they are really going to and they are always some weird address.

There are a lot of email scams out there right now.

      Hi Dee Ann,

Good on you Dee Ann, I can imagine you being on the ball there with security issues.

I agree, the e-mail scams are rampid just now, I’ve noticed that as well and it’s damn annoying.

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a relaxing weekend.

  4. Hi Julie,

I had heard of this happening last month but luckily I guess I either didn’t receive any requests or I ignored them. I don’t log-in to LinkedIn often so when I do I check everything at that time. I don’t go individually through the emails I get. Guess that’s a good thing right!

    Yikes!!!

      Hi Adrienne,

That is a good idea, to not even actually click on the links within the mails and just open a tap and then link to the site from there. Being observant is the the thing, as there’s always something that’s not right with the copied sites.

Thanks Adrienne, have a good weekend

  6. Hi Julie,

Guess I can count myself “lucky” I’ve been spared so far. I get quite a bit of email from LinkedIn with requests to join people’s networks mostly, but occasionally spam as well.

Thanks for the heads up! I will be extremely careful now that I know that this is going on.

    Cheers,

      Hi Ilka,

You’re welcome. I do appreciate it when I read warnings about spammers & hackers from others, so I’m pleased that this has been of help to those who have not noticed.

Thanks Ilka & have a good weekend

  7. Hi Julie,

I get this type of message on most of my email accounts and delete the lot of them. Some of the email addresses are registered with LinkedIn but to play it safe I always go to the main site and check there for messages.

If they’re not there I done right to delete them :)

    Thanks Julie,
